Compression Products
Introduction
Alysis has published several
compression products for Macintosh computer. These tools allow for the
creation of compressed files, and the transparent use of those files in
Mac OS versions 6.x to 7.1.
When
SuperDisk!™ 1.0 was released, it set a new standard
for compression speed and transparency. SuperDisk!™ allows users
to compress files and folders by simply adding an extension to their filenames.
More
Disk Space™ added resource compression to the SuperDisk!™ file compression,
to create a complete file-level compression utility. Applications
compressed by More Disk Space™ can launch independently of the More Disk
Space software.
When
users requested still-more-transparent data compression, Alysis responded
with eDisk. eDisk allows users to experience
the benefits of data compression without compressing and decompressing
specific files. Microsoft later employed the same disk-level compression
techniques employed by eDisk within the MS-DOS operating system.
