SuperDisk!™
Marketing

SuperDisk!™ 1.0 was launched in 1991 with news coverage in MacWEEK and MacWorld magazines.  The software was shipped directly to users in a subdued, blue and maroon colored box.

macwarehouse macworld adOnce sales started to mount, Alysis secured distribution for SuperDisk!™ through Ingram/MicroD, MacWarehouse, MacConnection, MacZone, Mac's Place and other channels.

Alysis began advertising for SuperDisk!™ by placing ads in MacWarehouse and MacConnection advertising pages in MacWorld and MacUser magazines.  These advertisements were effective and helped to preserve cash flow: MacWarehouse and MacConnection accept product as payment.

SuperDisk!™ was also advertised in the product catalogues of the mail-order distribution companies.  This advertisement appeared in the MacWarehouse catalogue.  The catalogue companies send massive and frequent direct mailings to potential buyers, although many readers receive several copies.

When Alysis released SuperDisk!™ 2.0, the company introduced a new, brighter package.  The package required less wood pulp and was made with recycled paper and water-based inks.

Alysis also made several bundling agreements with hard drive manufacturers.  Mac's Place and ETC were among the companies which shipped a disk and manual with their hard disks.  These companies paid a reduced wholesale price for the limited packages and provided advertising space in catalogues and magazines.
