Vertigo Design Arenas Construction Site Description: The construction site must be entered through a broken fence that is clearly marked "DANGER NO TRESSPASSING." (In tournament mode, there is a regular entrance.) Inside are a variety of obstacles, including barrels, empty cement pools with unidentifiable puddles, endless rails, steel girders and idle construction equipment.
There are many hazards in the construction site. There are open pits which will kill or maim unwary skaters. There are objects which can fall and crush skaters. And the inhabitants of the construction site are a lawless and brutal crew who respect only power. While the construction site is large enough to accommodate many visiting skaters, the Trugs actively pursue high-speed collisions with each other and especially with outsiders. The construction site can be conquered by groups of skaters who are willing to divide up to keep the Trugs at bay while skating or lone skaters who have limitless speed, dexterity and luck.
Features: Hazards, poles, curved surfaces, stairs, blocks, rails, ramps, and rats.
Native Tribe: The Trugs are the darker side of outlaw skating. They listen to Fun-Loving Criminals. They skateboard primarily because it allows them to outrun the police. Trugs have little respect for anything but power, and they express their lack of respect for players by attempting to ollie onto their heads. Players should visit the construction site not only after they have mastered skating skills, but also after they have made a few allies among the other tribes. The Trugs are less likely to pounce on a group than a single skater.
Scoring: Points are awarded for clearing each object. Style points are awarded in this arena for physically harming the Trugs.

1. Entrance.
Players enter the construction site
by performing an ollie over the surrounding fence. This requires some skill
and it leaves the player in the predicament of having to find another way
back out. The Trugs will rapidly find the player and give him good reason
to find a way quickly.
2. Pipes. A stack of full pipes makes for good skateboarding when the Trugs aren’t right around the corner.
A springy plank makes it easier to earn some respect from the Trugs by pouncing on them from above.
Barrels on the construction site tend
to be filled with unpleasant liquids.
5. Girders. To leave the construction site, players
will have to traverse a number of skinny girders.
6. Building frame.
Players will have to climb several levels of the buildings under construction.
7. Banked curve. These banked curves are fun but hazardous for the unwary skater.
8. Swinging pipe. Guaranteed to induce Vertigo. 9. Exit. Whew. Made it! |
